Growing Basil in your Home vegetable garden

A very easy herb to grow either indoor or outdoor, basil is very famous among the gardeners who would love to grow herbs in their garden. Basil’s original or say scientific name is Osmium basilicas which actually also named as sweet herb. With its dark, pointed leaves and clove like smell, basil have many healthy traits, that is why it can be used in cooking and has been already in use for many purposes. As the basil, plant has inch long leaves, which make it, a plant that can be placed in our home, as a decorative peace also, as it is even easy to maintain and hardly grow more than 20 inches in height.

Basil is very much in demand by many people who know about the plants very deeply. They not only buy it, but also maintain it very nicely that is why many have the plant of basil from years. Yes, it is true you can sow a basil plant from a little seed either outdoor or indoor. However, few simple and proper maintain points should be kept in mind to promptly grow up basil. For instance, as we all know plants need sunlight to make their food, same is basil, it require a place from where it can get a healthy sunrays. Second, is watering, watering is very essential for any plant however basil need some extra watering as it is a season long plant that grows properly in summers. Next is, nutrient rich and useful chemical rich fertilizer that can actually help basil, to grow up properly. Last but not the least, and even the most important point is to arrange a proper fresh soil that is being specially meant for basil plants.

After sowing basil, you should regularly check the damages which can be caused by insects and pests, as its very clove like smell attract them and they either eats it up or leave a fungal infection to it. Apart from this, there are many cultivars of basil.  In which O. basilicum ‘Dark Opal’- and O. basilicum ‘Citriodorum’ which is a strong lemon scent  that can be used are available in the market.

And lastly there are many traits in basil that makes it a small but effect herb, as it can be use while making tea, you can even use fresh leaves of basil in salads, and other dishes that gives a fine taste after adding basil.
